WOUND CARE WAR
Winning the wound care war care leads us into the wonderful world of healing. Here, you’ll learn how utterly amazing your body functions to repair itself, how it’s always ready to initiate the healing process and how we can intervene when that process goes awry.
It’s awesome how your body heals wounds in a very organized militaristic fashion and with extreme precision. For example, just as the razor sharp lid from the can of cling peaches is cutting into your finger, your body’s military brass is raising your wound status from DEFCON 1 to DEFCON 2.5. In Star Trek terms, you’re experiencing an outer hull breach. This is wound care war!
Already, thousands of elite Special-Forces proteins are rushing into the wound, your body’s new “Theater of Operations.” That’s in addition to all the other proteins engaged in their duties. Some are there to isolate dead tissue, germs and bacteria. Other proteins are functioning to constrict blood vessels to reduce blood loss.
Then, you’ve got a brilliantly led group of Engineer proteins carrying out blood clotting maneuvers in cooperation with the proteins responsible for getting fluids into and out of the wound site.
It’s a beautiful thing.
Your body steps up production of those Special-Forces proteins from all the essential amino acids you’ve ingested on your diet rich in protein, complex carbohydrates and fats. They’ll relieve the “first-responder” proteins and so on, and so on until the outer hull breach is fully repaired and its integrity restored — about 2-4 weeks.
But what happens if you haven’t been taking in those essential amino acids that combine to create Special Forces proteins?
