We treat and cure MRSA at Encompass HealthCare and Wound Medicine in West Bloomfield, Michigan and we do it in our outpatient office so that you don’t have to go to the hospital (which is one of the main places MRSA is contracted in the first place!)
MRSA infections and other antibiotic resistant bacterial infections are serious and are caused by a type of staph bacteria that’s become resistant to many of the antibiotics used to treat ordinary staph infections. MRSA infections are most often skin infections although can extend locally to the bone and or disseminate to any other organ in the body like any other staph infection.
MRSA is a scary term. However, effective antibiotics are still available to treat MRSA and we have them all at Encompass Healthcare.
How MRSA Is Contracted:
Anyone can get MRSA on their body from casual contact with an intimate partner, patient or healthcare worker who is colonized without symptoms. In fact, 50% of all persons in the community are colonized with this form of staph, but exhibit no symptoms because the it’s a normal bacteria that lives on the skin.
Problems arise when the skin, the body’s natural “defense,” is compromised by a cut, scrape, or a deep wound. Once it infiltrates below the skin, it can cause local or disseminated infection. This doesn’t happen in all cases, as many cuts and lacerations have no complications at all. It only happens when the body’s defenses are unable to fight off infection.
Infection risk is increased when a person is at places that involve crowding, skin-to-skin contact, and shared equipment or supplies. Hospitals and I.V. drug users, are at highest risk.

Of course, antibiotic-resistant bacteria are not limited to just to this superbug. Other resistant bacterial infections such as Pseudomonas aeriginosa and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) and C.diff. are resistant infections that are treated here as well.

Other infections not listed on our website include site infections, which refer to infections of a certain body part like the leg, the lymph nodes, the nasal membranes and such. All of these body parts are, of course, subject to potential infection and we treat all of those here at Encompass HealthCare under the direct supervision of our Infectious Disease specialist Dr. Bruce Ruben.
Our outpatient facility is located on the border of West Bloomfield, Walled Lake and Commerce township in The Lakes Medical Building and is convenient to most Oakland, Wayne, and Macomb county cities.
