WHIP UP A PROTEIN SMOOTHIE!
Patients find that a protein smoothie is a great way to take in three times or more of the normal daily requirement for protein, which in some wound healing cases, is necessary. Protein smoothies are a delicious and nutritious way to get that extra protein. Recipes are plentiful and your imagination is your only limit! Try out this favorite!
PEANUT BUTTER/BANANA PROTEIN SMOOTHIE
1 cup milk, almond milk or soy milk
2 T. peanut butter
4 ice cubes
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- With an electric blender, blend the first four ingredients
- Add the protein powder and blend again.
Of course, if you’re lactose intolerant, use the milk substitutes. And if you don’t care for the peanut butter, you could leave it out and substitute something else like strawberries, blueberries, or any fruit for that matter!
